Many modern stone cutting machines are 3-Axis or 5-Axis (and we have many of those!). Beyond the 5-Axis, we have now added a 6th Axis lathe which gives us the ability, for example, to carve 3-Dimensional sculptures from a single large block of stone. Fintan Morrison joins us for a 5-week placement as part of his Level 3 NVQ in Heritage Stonemasonry Skills. He is gaining experience on a number of different sites whilst with us.
