Expertise Area

Architectural Stonemasonry

Typical Stone

Limestone, Portland, Bath Stone

Scope

Design, Fabrication, Installation

Typical Settings

Private Residences, New Build, Restoration

We deliver the full design, manufacture, and installation package for both contemporary and classical porticos. By engineering the stone to be entirely load-bearing rather than just cladding, we ensure finished porticos integrate seamlessly and structurally with the building facade.

The details matter, from column and pilaster arrangements to water management, we're your specialists throughout the project.

Classical Entrances in Natural Stone

Proportion and
Architectural Discipline

Most successful porticos are built on disciplined proportion. We work with time-honoured classical orders, Doric, Ionic, Corinthian, Tuscan and Composite, adjusting column slenderness, spacing, entablature depth and detailing to suit the facade.

Columns are carefully entasised, tapering subtly to correct optical illusions and give them life. Capitals are carved in our workshops with the same precision and detail expected of historic precedents.

As we are independent of any single quarry or supplier, we can offer impartial advice on stone choice, considering colour, texture, durability and how the portico will weather over time.

A Lasting Statement

Kerb Appeal That
Endures

Whether part of a new build or an enhancement to an existing home, our porticos are designed to look as though they have always been there. Designed and built with care.

We're also able to advise and support through inspection and cleaning, ensuring that porticos are well maintained and look great in the long term.

Our Process

From Concept to Installation

Concept Development &
Architectural Coordination

Successful porticos begin with proportion and geometry. We work with architects and contractors to define column spacing, entasis, capital profiles and cornice details, developing schemes that sit comfortably within their architectural context.

Detailed Design &
Stone Selection

Once the preferred arrangement is agreed, we refine the design in detail. We offer impartial advice on stone choice, considering colour, texture, durability and how the portico will weather over time. Drawings and 3D models are prepared to give clarity before manufacture begins.

Workshop
Production

Component pieces are manufactured in our Oxfordshire workshops using a blend of CNC technology and hand finishing. Each element is checked for accuracy, and dry runs can be carried out where appropriate.

Site
Installation

On site, our teams work on fixings and sequencing which are coordinated with the contractor to ensure smooth delivery and structural reliability. The result is a portico that sits naturally on a building and reads as one coherent composition.

A portico is one of architecture's most enduring gestures — a threshold that welcomes and defines.

Whether you have drawings or an idea at concept stage, we bring the classical knowledge, stone expertise and craft to build a portico that will stand for generations.
