Interior Stonemasonry

Typical Stone

Limestone, Portland, Bath Stone, Slate

Scope

Design, Fabrication, Installation

Typical Settings

Private Residences, Country Houses, Hotels

Throughout our history we have made and installed stone fireplace surrounds, building a library of classic and popular designs.

With each fireplace being produced in our workshops in Ipsden, we take pride in configuring bespoke fireplaces to clients style preference, room dimensions or fire grate. Our most popular fireplace designs and sizes are available in the downloadable brochure. However, if your requirement is bespoke please contact us today for assistance and a quotation. We offer a measurement, manufacture, and installation service. Alternatively, we can work on a supply-only basis.

Fireplaces Shaped in Natural Stone

Made to Measure, Expertly Fitted

We create surrounds and hearths in a wide range of English and European limestones such as Bath stone, Portland, Clipsham, Cadeby, Moleanos and Vratza. Granite and slate are also popular for hearths where other variables such as heat protection and cleaning considerations are required.

Whether the project calls for a classical detailing with carved enrichments or a more contemporary surround with clean lines and minimal jointing, we approach each design with the same rigour.

A well-designed fireplace will feel effortless but is always the result of careful planning, material understanding and skilled craftsmanship.

Choosing Your Stone

Expert Guidance

A stone fireplace comprises the outer surround and hearth, alongside secondary elements like inner linings and slips.

The technical regulations, practical requirements, and aesthetic options are distinct for each component.

By engaging us early, you gain the specialist expertise needed to navigate these choices for long term value and elegance.

Our Process

From Concept to Installation

Concept, Feasibility
and Stone Selection

We begin by understanding the desired architectural language: classical proportions, minimalist forms, or bespoke sculptural designs. From there, we advise on stone type, practicality, jointing, supporting structure and cost implications.

Design Development &
Workshop Preparation

Once the direction and materials are agreed, we refine the design. Opening sizes, shelf depths, mouldings, joints and hearth layouts are all carefully set out. Detailed drawings and setting-out information are produced for our workshops, where each component is cut, profiled and hand-finished.

Installation by
Specialist Masons

Our experienced masonry teams then install the fireplace and hearth on site, working closely with the chosen fire installer or contractor. Levels are checked, joints are aligned and any slips or additional detailing are fitted to ensure safe operation and correct airflow.

A fireplace is the oldest architectural focal point — it deserves the full weight of craft and material knowledge.

Whether you have a detailed design or an idea at sketch stage, we bring the material knowledge and masonry skill to create a fireplace that will define the room.
