Service Details

Expertise Area

Architectural Stonemasonry

Typical Stone

Limestone, Portland, Bath Stone, Marble

Scope

Design, Carving, Installation

Typical Settings

Facades, Interiors, Heritage Structures

Stone carving is where material, craft and imagination meet. From discreet details to full sculptural elements, we create carved work that brings depth and character to facades, porticos, pediments and interiors.

Each piece is shaped with care, balancing artistry and structural understanding so the finished carving feels resolved from every angle.

Art and Craft in Three Dimensions

Where Material
Meets Imagination

Carving can be classical, contemporary or somewhere in between. We work with traditional motifs, foliate detail, coats of arms, consoles and mouldings, as well as more freeform designs and carved lettering.

High-precision CNC machinery is used for primary shaping, improving efficiency and safety while leaving the character and resolution of the piece to our skilled hand carvers.

Well-judged carving can transform how a building or interior is read. It can provide focus at an entrance, soften a structural junction or carry names, dates and stories in a way that feels permanent and grounded.

Detail That Enriches the Architecture

CNC Precision,
Hand Resolved

By combining digital precision with hand skills, we offer clients carved work that achieves the richness of traditional craftsmanship without the time and cost penalties that pure hand carving would involve.

Each element is checked for quality before being delivered and, where required, installed by our own teams as part of the wider stonework scope.

Our Process

From Brief to Finished Piece

Brief, Intent
and Style

We begin by understanding the role of the carving within the wider project, whether it is a focal point, a subtle enrichment or a piece of lettering with a specific tone. Using sketches and references, we discuss style, scale, positioning and budget.

Design Development
and Modelling

Once the direction is agreed, we develop the design in more detail. This may involve hand drawings, clay maquettes or digital models to test proportion, depth and shadow. At the same time, we consider stone type, fixings and buildability.

Carving, Finishing
and Installation

Primary shaping is carried out using CNC machinery to establish the main forms accurately and efficiently. From there, our carvers work the stone by hand, refining profiles, textures and fine detail until the piece feels resolved from every angle.

Whether you have a detailed brief or an idea in sketch form, we bring the artistry and technical skill to realise it in stone.
