Scope

Bifurcated Staircase, Ground Floor Flooring

Project Type

Private Residence

At a private residence in Eversley, a grand bifurcated staircase in Moleanos Beige stone sets the tone from the moment you enter.

AFJONES designed and installed stone cladding to a steel stair structure and coordinated matching flooring throughout the ground floor to create a calm, unified interior.

Stone Floors and
Stair Integrated

The central feature of the project is a sweeping bifurcated staircase, where two flights rise from a shared lower run to meet at a generous landing. Moleanos Beige stone was chosen for its soft tone and fine grain, giving the stair a refined presence without overpowering the space.

Each tread and riser, typically 20mm thick, was made bespoke to suit the curved geometry, with bullnose treads and matching risers carefully detailed and fitted over the steelwork.

Stone-Clad Structure

Cladding Complex
Geometries

Rather than a cantilevered structure, the stair is formed from a supporting frame clad in stone. The result shows how a well-designed stone-clad staircase can be just as impactful as a fully structural stone stair.

AFJONES developed each element to suit the curved geometry of the bifurcated plan, with precise templating and setting-out ensuring every stone fitted perfectly over the steel frame.

To carry the language of the stair through the home, Moleanos Beige stone was also supplied and fitted across the ground floor living areas. Using the same material for floors and stair ties the circulation spaces together and reinforces the sense of continuity.

Material Palette

A Consistent
Stone Language

The floors were designed for everyday use, comfortable underfoot, easy to maintain, and generous enough in scale to suit the proportions of the house.

Floors and Circulation

From Entrance Hall
Through the Home

Moleanos Beige does not stop at the stair. The same material extends through the ground floor, from the entrance hall into the living and dining areas, creating a calm, continuous surface that unifies the interior.

The coordination of stair and floor, same stone, same supplier, same installation team, ensured a seamless visual and material result throughout the project.

Moleanos Beige unifies stair and floor in one continuous stone language — calm, refined, and entirely considered.

AFJONES provided the full service from material selection through fabrication and installation, coordinating every detail of a complex bifurcated geometry across multiple spaces.
