To achieve the client's vision for a clean, contemporary, and elegant aesthetic, AFJONES specified Limra Limestone sourced directly from Turkey. This bright white stone provides the perfect tonal balance and consistency required for a high-end residential staircase.
By engaging in the design process from the outset, AFJONES established clear parameters for sourcing and production, controlling lead times and ensuring the raw material was secured well ahead of the demanding installation phase.

Absolute Accuracy
Processing stone for a four-storey continuous spiral demands absolute accuracy. Every tread and structural component was cut and calibrated to exacting tolerances, ensuring the architect's conceptual vision translated precisely into a physical reality.
The precision of each component, cut to tolerances measured in fractions of a millimetre, was essential for the spiral geometry to resolve correctly at every level.
The installation environment presented significant operational constraints. The build originated three floors below street level within a newly excavated basement, effectively requiring the masonry team to build their way out of a purpose-dug subterranean space.
