Summary: Contemporary curved cantilevered multi-flighted staircase.
Stone: Bath Stone – Elm Park.
AFJ Scope: Design, manufacture & build.
Particular features / achievements:
– Complex curved geometry (also with central lift shaft).
– Unusual construction sequence using stainless steel anchorage plates to stabilise the stair treads.
The lower section of brickwork perimeter walling was built to templates supplied by A F Jones. The stair trends were secured and anchored with the plates and bolts to ensure fixity prior to continuation of the brick wall built above the completed stairs and complete the overall assembly.
