Bringing Stone to Life since 1858

Restoration & Repair Works
We are delighted to have started work on some conservation work for Royal Holloway. And what an absolutely magnificent building this is. Construction started in 1874, (that is 16 years after A F Jones Stonemasons started trading, and about 30 years after William Jones started his Masonry Apprenticeship in Reading!), and was opened in 1886 by Queen Victoria. It’s design is influenced by Chateau de Chambord in the Loire Valley, and it is Grade I listed.
At this stage we are reinstating and repairing some of the damaged Ball Finials, and providing extensive Balustrade repairs in Portland stone. Further more extensive works are under discussion.

Many modern stone cutting machines are 3-Axis or 5-Axis (and we have many of those!).
