Pocahontas Mural

Posted on: June 4, 2017

This is an artwork mural depicting the famous Pocahontas Princess – who was captured by the Brits in 1613, who then elected to stay rather than return to her native Virginia.

A F Jones helped the artist to take a concept into reality:  how the panel could be carved & patterned;  how the feather geometry could be best produced;  how the feathers could be fixed into the wall;  digitization of the main panel design, etc.

The material used is Portland Stone (Basebed).

The feathers are all hand carved from block.

The main panel used a mixture of CNC routering, with hand finishing.

Wonderful!
